The Five Virtues of T'ai Chi
- Do not limit yourself. Make your study broad and diversified. As with your stance, allow it to move easily in many different directions.
- Constantly examine and question. Ask how and why T'ai Chi works. As in your study of T'ai Chi, develop your sensitivity and be receptive to that which others ignore.
- In your thinking, be deliberate and careful. Use your mind to achieve a proper understanding of T'ai Chi.
- Clearly analyze. Separate concepts distinctly, understand them individually, then decide upon a proper course. As in T'ai Chi, strive to find the way of continuous, flowing motion.
- Practice sincerely. As with heaven and earth, the eternal, constancy is at the root.
