Ma and I have received our Census 2000 forms. Ma got the long form; I got the short form. We filled them out.

We liked Question 6 best: "What race is this person?" Ma wanted to check all the boxes (that's "allowed" this time). I opted for checking "other," and specifying, "human."

It's time to stop labeling ourselves. The practice is divisive. Remember the Sneetches? The sooner we realize that we're all just people, the sooner we can get on with with saving this planet. (And don't you think for one minute that it doesn't need saving.)
